System description

Process extraction from food production and room ventilation in production halls, warehouse and administration building.

Total capacity

2,150 m3/h at 6,500 Pascal 25,000 m3/h

Task

During the production of food, dust is generated, which can be explosive in some cases. Dust must be removed from production and machinery in an appropriate manner so that dust does not spread and pose a health and explosion risk. Food production is very sensitive to moisture and temperature changes. The building must, therefore, be fitted with room ventilation which makes it possible to control the temperature and humidity in the rooms.

Solution

Process ventilation:

As the products used in production are explosive, the system is fitted with ATEX components that protect in the event of an explosion. The ATEX components consist of a complete cartridge filter, fan and control for this purpose.

The filter is placed on the outside of a stand to collect the dust in a bag that can be easily replaced when full. The explosion relief is positioned so that the pressure is directed upwards at an angle of 60°, which saves space compared to the safety area that would otherwise have been required around the filter.

There is extraction from various machines in production, and the system is, therefore, fitted with automatic valves that open when needed. The fan is demand-controlled, based on pressure in the extraction, to save energy.

Room ventilation:

Room ventilation with fixed extraction points and air supply bags for improved indoor climate.

Complete room ventilation (comfort) has been established for the production halls, warehouse and administration rooms. The room ventilation is provided by a cross exchanger with both heating and cooling surfaces and control for the entire system.

As the products used in production are sensitive to moisture and temperature changes, it is important that these parameters are precisely controlled. This feature is managed by means of the heating and cooling surfaces in order to simultaneously control the temperature and dehumidify the air when necessary, as the relative humidity must not exceed 55% and a supply temperature of 22°C is desired. The air for the administration rooms is regulated separately from the production rooms using valves and zone heating surfaces. The system also comes with a complete 260kw chiller unit, which supplies coolant at 5°C all year round.

It is all tied together by the controllers, which also ensure that the airflow at the extraction and supply is regulated when the process system is in operation to prevent doors and windows from binding due to pressure differences.

The entire project is delivered as turn-key incl. electrical and plumbing installations and final heat and condensation insulation of exposed components.
